These are 6 benefits I have found to writing my thoughts, ideas and feelings down in a journal ~
Organising your thoughts by writing them in a journal, then seeing them stare back at you from the page, can help you find clarity with problems or goals. It can also provide emotional clarity.
2) DECLUTTER YOUR MIND
Getting what’s filling your mind out of your head as a list or brainstorm, allows you to collate them on a page and helps to declutter your mind. This can provide an opportunity for mental space.
3) DISCOVER YOURSELF
Journalling offers the potential for self reflection on all aspects of your life. It offers you incites into what’s really going on with your thoughts and feelings, it helps you discover what’s really important to you.
4) RELIEVES STRESS
Noting in your journal all those niggling thoughts; anxieties, fears, regrets etc… that may swim around your head, can offer you a new perspective. It can even give you the opportunity to release things that no longer serve you.
5) NOTICE THE LITTLE THINGS
Taking time time to note in your journal what you are grateful for, recording the little moments in each day that brought you joy…even if it was something simple like holding a comforting cup of tea, watching a bird on a branch or feeling the warmth of the sun on your face; gives you an opportunity to practice gratitude.
6) REMEMBER THINGS
It’s always helpful to be able to refer back to earlier scribblings to remember the ideas, podcasts, work you want to look at, books to read, websites etc… or follow a train of thought you wanted to revisit later on. Keep a notebook and pen handy…you never know when inspiration will strike!
